Barbados has officially joined the global community of marine safety investigators through its representation at the Marine Accident Investigators’ International Forum (MAIIF).

nts. The Barbados government has designated the BMSR to represent the country at MAIIF since 2022, led by CEO Giovanni Ciniglio and Technical Manager Gerasimos Kypriotis.

This participation underscores Barbados’s dedication to upholding top-tier maritime safety standards and investigative practices. By engaging with MAIIF, Barbados reinforces its commitment to maritime safety, fosters direct collaboration with other national marine investigation authorities, aligns with international best practices outlined in the IMO Casualty Investigation Code, and fulfills its responsibilities as a responsible flag State under Article 94 of UNCLOS.
