Barbados Welcomes Bulk Carrier M.V. Kynthos
Barbados Maritime Ship Registry is proud to announce the newest addition to the fleet, in the shape of m.v. KYNTHOS, a bulk carrier whose initial construction began at Cebu, Philippines, by Tsuneishi Cebu, with completion at Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Co Ltd., Fukiyama, Japan. She is also classed with ClassNK.
The vessel was moved to Japan from the Cebu shipyard, following a typhoon strike (Typhoon Odette) which affected the building schedule.
The damage to the Philippines was extensive following the typhoon, and it is notable that the managers of our new lady, Messrs. Helikon Shipping, played a key role in providing assistance to the workers at the shipyard, by donating rice and building materials.
Happily, delivery of the bulker (grt 35,596, nrt 21456) to new owners was made on 26th July 2023, in Japan.
The ship was launched on 17 November 2021. Brief details of her main engine are given below.
Mitsui MAN B&W 6S50ME-C9.7-EGRBP with engine output being 7,360kW x 99.0 PM/
6,230 kW x 93.6 RPM (84.60% MCO).
Her carrying capacity is 64000 t DWT . Registered length is 196.13 m, breadth 32.26 m and depth 18.6 m. Draught is 13.3 m.
Her maiden voyage following her delivery was from Japan to Tianjin.
The crew accommodation is designed to allow for a crew complement of not more than 25.
We wish all the crew onboard a very happy tour of duty in this lovely new vessel.
We are pleased and proud that the Managers, Helikon Shipping Ltd. recommended Barbados flag once again, and we have now 21 ships registered under Helikon’s management, with plans for another bulk carrier vessel of similar size already at the construction stage at Cebu, Philippines.
We look forward to continuing this happy association for many years to come and welcome this newest addition to the Barbados flag.
Congratulations to all concerned and welcome aboard!
